Culinary Crossover: Tokyo American Club x The American Club Singapore

 

Culinary Crossover is an exclusive partnership between The American Clubs Tokyo and Singapore, where the respective club’s chefs will showcase their country’s signature dishes. Chef Nobukazu Toyama from Tokyo American Club will whip up authentic Japanese dishes and Tradewinds Chef Lee Hon Boon will give Tokyo American Club Members a taste of iconic Singapore dishes.

Chef Nobukazu Toyama
Chef Nobukazu Toyama is a proud Tokyo native and is Chef de Cuisine at Tokyo American Club. He is an avid culinarian who developed his skills at Hotel Continental Yokohama for seven years before moving to Hôtel Carlton in Switzerland as a part of a Japanese chef trainee program. After a year at Chef Fredi Girarde’s three-Michelin-star Hôtel de Ville in Switzerland, he was Chef at the Japanese ambassador’s residence in Ottawa, Canada. He then served the acclaimed Rideau Club as Sous Chef before returning to Japan to work at Tokyo American Club.

Apart from heading these kitchens, Chef Nobu was a member of the silver award winning team from Tokyo at the 2008 Singapore international food and wine competition.

 

Chef Lee Hon Boon
Chef Lee Hon Boon is a passionate and dedicated chef with 16 years of culinary experience, specializing in Western and Singaporean cuisines. He started his career at The American Club Singapore in 2007 at Tradewinds, an all-day restaurant serving American and local delicacies.

In this Culinary Crossover, Members at Tokyo American Club will get an authentic taste of iconic Singaporean dishes. Chef Lee will work his wok magic to create Singaporean classics such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa (noodles in a rich and spicy coconut milk broth), Char Kway Teow (sweet-savory stir-fried rice noodles) and Chili Crab.
