Author and Illustrator of The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, Sonny Liew, will be joining us for this special edition of Book Club. Get ready for an engaging discussion, insightful Q&A, and a chance to connect with the mind behind the award-winning graphic novel.

The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye is a fictional biography showcasing the life and work of Chan Hock Chye, a pioneering but largely forgotten comics artist in Singapore. With a career spanning more than five decades, from pre-independent Singapore through its three Prime Ministers, Chan’s work reflects the changing political and economic environment in Singapore.

About Sonny Liew
Sonny Liew is a Malaysia-born comic illustrator based in Singapore. He is best known for The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, the first graphic novel to win the Singapore Literature Prize for fiction. He is also the creator of Malinky Robot, a Xeric Award recipient in 2004 and winner of the “Prix de la Meilleure BD” (Comic Album of the Year) at the Utopiales International SF Festival in Nantes in 2009. He was a recipient of Singapore's Young Artist Award in 2010.
