Zhang Hui’s work depicts her dreams about people and items from her childhood. Zhang Hui’s works, be it sculptures or paintings, portrays memories from her pastoral life when she was young. The characters in her works are all childlike, with dark skin and a round face, all glowing in the passing time. Through her artworks, Zhang Hui hopes to be able to evoke the memories of people who share similar life experiences as her.
Artnom’s works are generally characterized by the strong iron-like texture strokes, the usage of primary colors and the narratives within the characters Artnom himself created. On the other hand, Artnom’s bold outlines seem to be carrying out a certain role. Differentiation is an intentional barricading of the self, and all entities are locked up inside the self’s own world. Therefore, their similar laughs or cries cannot be the same laughs and cries. The interesting fact here is that the discernment and boundaries are like a common currency between all humans. In any situation, we cannot wholly accept another’s pain or depression. Only emotional assimilation or consolation of feelings is possible. And these facts are pronounced via Artnom’s cheerfully defined lines and colors.
Born in Nice in 1994, Pierre-Emmanuel ROME, now known as BARNABE, started working on his art at a very young age. He developed a graphic process using three parallel lines to create a movement of contamination and accumulation in his early paintings. At that time, his idea was also to contaminate society through art. This period was the foundation of his universe. In 2013, inspired by popular culture and various references acquired throughout his childhood, he gave life to his character –
continuing the tradition of pop art by mixing art history and popular culture. Often placed at the frontiers of abstraction but freely inspired by our times, his works are a reflection of society. He thus elaborates an infinitely complex narrative and leaves the viewer a freedom of interpretation in each of his paintings.
