Artist Biography:
Ellie Lasthiotaki is a Greek artist, currently based in Singapore. Her work is inspired by lines and fragments of Gaia and the exquisiteness of life. Through her panoramic paintings and sculptures, she yearns to build a bridge with nature so as to emancipate her psyche and confront one’s harrowing composite experiences.
Growing up on the island of Crete in Greece, the sea and its stories have been an internal part of perceiving the world. Nothing is still in nature and Ellie within her own artistic language is humbly attempting to capture a moment, a split of a second, a feeling that would otherwise be long forgotten.
Ellie’s work brings forward the somnifacient light of the sun, elements of the seas, and the exuberance of colors, epitomizing her instinctive need to grasp beauty, kindness, and love for both nature and for one another.
Ellie holds an MA in Modern History from University College London, a Bachelor in History of Art and Archaeology from the University of Crete, and a Certificate in Western Art from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She has experience apprenticing with well-established artists. Parallel to her artistic journey, Ellie was a part-time lecturer of Ancient Greek at Yale NUS, Singapore for many years. She is currently working as a full-time artist being represented by many galleries, both physically and online.
