It’s a sizzling summer – quite literally. The last 10 years have been Singapore’s warmest decade on record. Temperatures for March and April are in the 36 degree Celsius mark and it isn’t even officially Summer yet. A quick dip in the pool and a frozen margarita from Grillhouse are in order!
July 4, 1776 is a red-letter Summer day. On this date, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence hence giving birth to the United States of America! In 2024, we will be celebrating 248 years of glorious democracy and freedom. 2024 is also an election year. If you are looking for voter information, the US Embassy will have a Voter Information Session at The American Club at the beginning of Fall. In the meantime, please visit the Federal Voter Assistance Program website for more information.
Hot in the city! If you’re travelling to Los Angeles this Summer, consider cooling off at our reciprocal club, the Jonathan Club. Read about Jonathan Club here.
Did you know that The American Club had the first bowling alley in Singapore in 1955? That’s right, a little piece of history is sitting in Basement 3. The Bowling Alley is fitted with retro lighting so you can bowl to your favorite tunes in style! Book it for a party or team building event. Click here for more information.
Summer eats are available in your favorite restaurants. Cool down with the Honey Peach Cooler, inspired by the classic American dessert at Central. For those looking for something a little richer, Lobster Thermidor and Stir-fried Venison are featured in the The 2nd Floor menu in June. Feel tropical with the Lemongrass Pork Taco and Spicy Hawaiian Burger in Grillhouse in July.
