Do you and your friend enjoy taking courses together, but find you like to do different things? Maybe you have a friend who would like to go on a photography course while you come for a painting course, or vice versa?

 

Well, here you'll find the best of both worlds in our Lifestyle courses such as Karate and Muay Thai classes. We offer a range of recreation classes to help Members find new hobbies or develop their skills further. Classes can be one-off workshops or courses over a set number of weeks across a wide range of activity types.

 

Our classes promote healthy, active lifestyles and a sense of community and provide our families the opportunity to meet their physical and social needs. These programs are an essential part of a well rounded community.

Chinese Brush Painting by Yap Sin Guan

 

Many of us are familiar with Western art mediums, having dabbled in using watercolor and oils in the past. However, with Chinese Brush Painting, a whole new world awaits.

 

Through this traditional medium, participants will be able to gain mastery over an unforgettable set of new skills, such as learning how to control and manipulate ink, colors and water on rice paper using fine-tipped wolf hair brushes. Within Chinese Brush Painting, there are endless subjects to explore – under careful instruction, participants will be able to first find their niche within flower-and-bird paintings that feature plum blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums, bamboos, peonies, carps, angelfish and sparrows, then move on to larger landscape paintings once they have attained a basic proficiency.

Muay Thai

A powerful form of martial arts, this “science of eight limbs” has developed for more than 1,000 years in Thailand. In Muay Thai, boxers typically apply maximum power in every technique, which is generated by turning of the hips followed by the body. Therefore, endurance and stamina are prerequisites for one to become a proficient Thai boxer.

Spend some time to learn the basics while packing in a challenging workout!

Private: $321 for 4 sessions
Semi-Private: $482* for 4 sessions
(1 hour per session)

 

*Price is for two persons, i.e. $241 per person.

 



Private Karate by Sensei Tan Soo Lin

Karate is a martial art that focuses on striking with the arms, fists, hands, knees, elbows and feet. It also teaches defence techniques such as blocking and getting out of the way. Shotokan training is usually divided into three parts: kihon (basics), kata (forms or patterns of moves), and kumite (sparring). Techniques in kihon and kata are characterized by deep, long stances that provide stability, enable powerful movements, and strengthen the legs.

Member: $80 per session
