Sommelier Hour: An Italian Treasure

Sommelier Hour: An Italian Treasure
Wednesday, December 4, 2024
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Complimentary event

Join the Sommelier Hour session happening every Wednesday at The Gourmet Pantry. In this edition, Master Sommelier and Director of Beverage Mathias Camilleri will uncork the Langhe Fralu 2022 red wine from Bruno Rocca in Neive, Piedmont, Italy – a prized Barbaresco village.

About Langhe Fralu 2022
The Langhe Fralu 2022 is a refined red wine crafted at the San Cristoforo site in Neive, one of just three villages authorized to label wines as Barbaresco. Fermented in stainless steel, it undergoes 8-12 months of aging in oak, enhancing its profile. This wine reveals vibrant red cherry fruit and cherry blossom notes, with a Pinot Noir-like lightness complemented by delicate, sandy tannins that elevate its texture.

About Bruno Rocca
The Rocca family has roots in Barbaresco, Piedmont, dating back to the 19th century. In 1958, they acquired a small farmhouse on the renowned Rabaja vineyard, now celebrated as one of Barbaresco’s finest sites. Their winery journey began in 1978 with the first wine under the Bruno Rocca label. Today, Bruno’s children, Luisa and Francesco, are integral to the family legacy. With 12.5 hectares of vines, they produce a select annual yield of 70,000 bottles. Barbaresco has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014.
