Wuxia, or “martial heroes,” is a cornerstone of Chinese literature, blending action with themes of honor, morality, and resilience. Emerging in the Tang Dynasty and flourishing through writers like Jin Yong (Louis Cha), wuxia reflects Chinese codes of loyalty. This talk explores wuxia archetypes and concludes with a comparison to American counterparts, including the cowboy westerns epitomized by characters like Clint Eastwood’s The Man with No Name.

Virginia Cha, an esteemed innovation educator at the National University of Singapore (NUS), serves as Program Director for Asia's pioneering life transition initiative, the NUS Distinguished Senior Fellowship Programme (DSFP).
