The British Club Bangkok
Discover The British Club Bangkok: A private members’ Club in the Central Business District of downtown Bangkok, Thailand that is open to The American Club Members.
The British Club Bangkok, established in 1903, traces its origins to a pivotal moment in Bangkok’s colonial-era history. Initially, British and Australian expatriates in Bangkok were members of the United Club, a grand mansion located at the corner of Si Phraya Road and Charoen Krung Road, overlooking the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal. However, a significant but undocumented dispute among its members led senior British and Australian businessmen, diplomats, and advisors to the Siamese government to form a new entity. On April 24, 1903, these influential figures created a committee to establish a British Club in Bangkok, modeled after similar institutions found throughout the British Empire.
Today, The British Club Bangkok stands as a private members’ club in the heart of the city’s Central Business District. While originally founded as a hub for British businessmen and diplomats, the Club has evolved over the past century into a vibrant social, sports, and cultural center, welcoming the English-speaking community in Bangkok.
