Youth Kickboxing

Combining boxing and kicking techniques adopted from other martial arts, such as Muay Thai, Kickboxing is an excellent way to stay fit and healthy.

12- to 18-years-old

Street Jazz

This class focuses on musicality, execution, and sharpness of movement, in addition to building stamina and rhythm. As such, your child will be more flexible and fluid with dance moves.

9- to 12-years-old
Thursdays
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Aikido

This Japanese martial art, which focuses on controlling your opponent with his or her own energy, rather than using punches or kicks, boosts physical health and confidence as it develops social skills. As is it not a competitive martial art form, the techniques are learned through training with a partner, not an opponent. Taught by Sensei George Chang, who has 40 years of experience in Aikido and who holds a 6th Dan Black belt, he is regarded as one of the highest ranking Sensei in Singapore.

Tae Kwon Do

Taekwondo is a Korean traditional martial art turned modern international sport. Practitioners of Taekwondo are taught various forms of “Poomse” (stances interconnected with blocking, punching, striking, thrusting, and kicking) and “kyoruki” (sparring). These techniques are learned through training with a partner. As conflict is minimized, this is a wonderful martial arts skill for children to learn. The class will be taught by Master Patrick Tan, a certified international Taekwondo Instructor with more than 30 years of experience, as well as the resident instructor for The American Club since 1982.

Beginners (6-years-old & above)
Saturdays, Noon – 1:00 p.m.

Clinic with Parent (4- to 6-years-old)
Sundays, 1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

(Fees cover 4 sessions and excludes Uniform fee)


Members are required to complete a suspension/cancellation form giving two weeks prior notice for cancellation or temporary suspension from Youth classes including Aikido, Ballet, Jazz/HipHop, Karate, and Taekwondo.
