Our Fitness & Recreation Team aims to provide a comprehensive and high quality wellness program. We are striving to be a market leader in the fitness industry, but more importantly, to have the best Member satisfaction level that we can achieve.

To be able to continue on this path we will introduce modest charges for a small, selected list of specialized Yoga and Pilates classes starting in February 2009. We have put together a list of FAQ’s for your information.

Should you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to call the Sports Counter at 6739-4312, or our Fitness & Leisure Director, Su-Ann, at 6739-4366. Alternatively head down to the Sports Counter in the gym and ask for them by name.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Which classes will stay complimentary?
A: About 80% of the current schedule will stay complimentary; this includes Beginner’s Yoga and Pilates.

Q: Why do I have to pay for Yoga and Pilates from now on?
A: We have received feedback from Members that Yoga and Pilates classes are overbooked. We have also heard that the current classes do not provide enough progression and lack personal attention by the instructor due to both the wide variety of skill sets attending the class, and the sheer number participating.

Q: What will improve once you start charging for specialized classes?
A: The current ratio is 1 instructor to 22 students. This will be changed to a maximum of 1 instructor to 15 students. Members can also look forward to classes that feature an dedicated program; and overall simply experience an enhanced progression to their Yoga and Pilates skills.

Q:What are the charges to these Group Fitness classes?
Beginners classes in Yoga and Pilates Mat Work = Complimentary
All Spinning, Les Mills, Stretching and Abs classes = Complimentary
Specialized Pilates mat work (60 min) = $12
Specialized Yoga (75 min) = $15

Q: How will you charge me?
A: All you have to do is put your name in the sign-up sheet at the Sports Counter for your choice of class, as per usual. The Counter staff will then charge your Membership account. The sign-up sheet will clearly have indicated the class and the price.

Q: How do we know which classes are chargeable and which ones are complimentary?
A: Our monthly Group Fitness schedule will clearly indicate the chargeable classes. This is available at the Sports Counter.

Q: Can I reserve my spot in advance?
A: Classes will be operated on a first come, first served basis. Please come early to avoid disappointment.

Q: Why do you only charge for Yoga and Pilates and not other classes as well?
A: The cost of quality Yoga or Pilates instructors is considerably higher than any other Group Fitness activity we are running. It also takes many, many years of experience and great skill to teach these classes. Instructors at a level that The Club demands are not easy to find and command higher rates.

Q: How do we compare to the industry?
A: Compared to the pricing structure of other Clubs and Fitness Centers, we are on average 50% less expensive.
